Namibia's South

After having visited this fascinating country several times in the winter there, we are traveling to the south of Namibia for the first time in early 2023. Since this takes place in the African summer, the temperatures are certainly higher than we are used to, so the tour to the south does not degenerate into frozen food.

5.1.2023: Flight Munich – Windhoek

The weather is bad in Germany: our daughter and her boyfriend drive us to the airport in rain showers and a few degrees above zero to catch the shuttle to Frankfurt in the early evening. There is nothing going on at the usually busy Franz Josef Strauss Airport and we check in our bags and get through the security check without any problems.

After a short flight to Frankfurt, we are greeted by a scene as relaxed as in Munich. Most of the shops are already closed (open until 7 p.m.) and our flight is the only one that is still being processed in area C today. The additional security check and exit formalities are accordingly quick.

We leave Frankfurt with only a slight delay and learn to appreciate the extra legroom in the Premium Economy classes of Eurowings Discover. The flight is unspectacular in a positive sense and we land slightly late in Windhoek, where we quickly get through the immigration formalities. Even the suitcases arrive soon and we can begin our stay in Namibia.
